Diversions to tram and bus routes due to Helsinki City Run on 5 May

Over 15,000 runners will take to the streets of Helsinki on Saturday 5 May for the Helsinki City Run half-marathon. The event will cause diversions to bus and tram routes.  

The runners will start from Vauhtitie, next to the Eläintarha sports field at 3pm. There are six starting groups that leave every 10 minutes. The finish line is at the Olympic stadium. 

 Helsinki City Run route

Helsinginkatu will be closed to traffic between Mannerheimintie and Sturenkatu from 3pm to 4.15pm. Nordenskiöldinkatu will be closed to traffic between Urheilukatu and Viipurinkatu from 4pm to 7pm.

Diversions while Helsinginkatu is closed

Bus 53 will be diverted to run from Merihaka along the following route: Haapaniemenkatu–Hakaniemen ranta–Siltasaarenkatu–Kaisaniemenkatu–Vilhonkatu–Mikonkatu–Kaivokatu–Mannerheimintie–Arkadiankatu–Runeberginkatu–Topeliuksenkatu. The bus will run via the Central Railway Station. 

From Laajalahden aukio, the bus will run along the following route: Topeliuksenkatu–Runeberginkatu–Arkadiankatu–Mannerheimintie–Postikatu–Kaivokatu–Kaisaniemenkatu–Siltasaarenkatu–Hakaniemen ranta–Sörnäisten rantatie–Haapaniemenkatu. The bus will run via the Central Railway Station also in this direction.  Diversion route of bus 53

Bus 70T will run from Kamppi along Fredrikinkatu–Eteläinen Rautatiekatu–Arkadiankatu–Mannerheimintie–Postikatu–Kaivokatu–Kaisaniemenkatu–Siltasaarenkatu–Hämeentie.
From the direction of Suutarila, the bus will run along Hämeentie–Siltasaarenkatu–Kaisaniemenkatu–Vilhonkatu–Mikonkatu–Kaivokatu–Simonkatu–Annankatu–Urho Kekkosen katu–Fredrikinkatu.
Diversion route of bus 70T

Diversions while Nordenskiöldinkatu is closed

Bus 69 will run in both directions along Mannerheimintie, Hakamäentie and Koskelantie.

Bus 58 will be diverted to run along the following route from the direction of Itäkeskus: Ratapihantie–Pasilansilta–Pasilankatu–Radiokatu–Ilmalankatu–Ilmalanrinne–Hakamäentie–Mannerheimintie–Topeliuksenkatu–Tukholmankatu.

From Munkkivuori, the bus will run along Tukholmankatu–Topeliuksenkatu–Mannerheimintie–Hakamäentie–Ilmalankatu–Radiokatu–Pasilankatu–Pasilansilta–Ratapihantie–Aleksis Kiven katu.
Diversion route of bus 58

Bus 23 will run from the Central Railway Station along Sturenkatu, Teollisuuskatu and Ratapihantie. From the direction of Ruskeasuo, the bus will run along Ratapihantie, Aleksis Kiven katu and Sturenkatu. The bus will not serve Savonkatu and Viipurinkatu. Diversion route of bus 23

Tram routes 3T and 3B will be diverted to run in both directions along the route Runeberginkatu–Helsinginkatu–Urheilutalo. The trams will change their route numbers at the Urheilutalo stop.  Nordenskiöldinkatu will not be served.

Tram 7A will run via Ooppera to Helsinginkatu and continue along the route of tram 9 to Pasila.  In Pasila, the tram will resume its normal route at the railway station. Tram 7B will run in the same way in the opposite direction. Nordenskiöldinkatu will not be served.
