Parking in the Helsinki metropolitan area

Park and Ride parking is a convenient way of avoiding the congestion of downtown Helsinki.  Park and Ride facilities are located close to public transport stops and stations. You can park your car at one of the facilities and continue by metro, bus, tram or commuter train. Parking is usually free of charge if you have a public transport ticket. Park and Ride

In the suburban areas, parking is often free of charge but parking time may be limited. Parking prohibited zones are used to restrict street-side parking especially in new residential areas.

These parking prohibitions may apply to the entire neighbourhood or an individual street.

Helsinki
In downtown Helsinki, parking is allowed only in designated parking spaces. Parking is subject to a charge usually Mondays to Fridays between 9am and 7pm and in some areas also on Saturdays. Parking time is limited.  Parking spaces are divided into three payment zones.  Parking is most expensive in the city centre.  Private parking facilities are also available in the city centre.
