Jouko neighbourhood routes

In Helsinki, there are altogether 25 Jouko neighbourhood routes, three of which are operated on a demand responsive basis.

You can travel on Jouko routes with regular Helsinki internal tickets purchased either with a Travel Card or by cash.

The Jouko neighbourhood routes have been tailored to accommodate the special needs of elderly and disabled people and those traveling with mobility aids. Drivers help you on and off the bus if need be.

The neighbourhood routes are mainly numbered according to the postal code of their primary operating area. The route numbering makes it easier for passengers to identify the area served by each Jouko route.

Jouko routes serve on weekdays

Jouko routes mainly operate on weekdays between 8am and 4pm. The timetables have been planned keeping in mind the opening hours of e.g. health centres and laboratories. The routes have been designed to provide access to as many neighbourhood services as possible with minimum amount of walking.

Jouko routes mainly operate at one-hour intervals. Those Jouko buses that operate on fixed routes take the same routes at the same times every day.

The routes and timetables are available online through the Journey Planner and Line Search. When searching the routes in the Journey Planner or Line Search, please enter the route number first and the prefix ‘J’ second.

Flexible service

The buses are low-floor minibuses that are easily accessible with prams, walkers and wheelchairs.  There is a designated space for one wheelchair and plenty of room for foldable walkers.  There are plenty of bus stops along the routes and thus, the walking distances are short.
