Upcode smart screens

HSL is testing Upcode smart screens at bus stops. The screens enable you to obtain the timetables for the stop in question on your phone display if you have a mobile phone equipped with a camera and an internet browser.

In order to use the service, you need to download a free Upcode application in your mobile at www.upcode.fi.  When you open the application at a bus stop, you only need to point the camera of your mobile phone at the smart screen. Your phone automatically takes a picture which triggers the phone to perform the task defined in the smart screen, i.e. the phone accesses the Internet site that contains the stop’s timetable.

If your mobile does not contain a camera, you can get the timetable to your phone by typing in the program the four digit stop number of the stop.

The service can be used also by visually impaired people.  The timetable information is synthesized into audible speech by a screen reading software.

Upcode smart screens are located at the bottom right of the info screens at bus shelters.
