The maps below show extensions to the rail network in the coming years. • The West metro from Ruoholahti to Matinkylä is likely to begin service in 2015 (shown in blue in the map). • The Ring Rail Line will provide a new crosstown commuter rail connection between the Vantaankoski line and the main line via the airport. Services on the line will begin in 2014. The map shows the stations to be built during the first phase as well as station reservations (shown in blue in the map). • With regard to Jätkäsaari tram route network, it has been decided that the route of tram 8 will be extended from Ruoholahti to Jätkäsaari. Services on the new rail section will begin in 2012. No decision has yet been made on a second tram route to Jätkäsaari (B).The route of bus 15 will change along with new tram routes. • New tram routes to Jätkäsaari are planned for the end of the 2010’s. The plans are preliminary and no decisions have been taken yet. A tram route is planned also to Hernesaari.
