Disabled persons

Permanent residents in the validity area of HSL’s regional tickets whose mobility is impaired owing to a permanent injury or chronic disease, are, under certain conditions, entitled to purchase tickets at discount prices.

The customer group entitling the passenger to the discount is registered on the Travel Card at the moment of purchase at a service point. The customer group can also be changed at a service point. The discount is applicable for regional season and value tickets and city internal season and value tickets. The discount is 25 %.

The permanent injury or chronic disease restricting the person’s mobility has to meet the following criteria according to the different illness groups

  1. Injury of lower limbs, back or spinal cord, at least severe (disability category at least 11) 
  2. Respiratory or circulatory disease impairing the person’s mobility, at least severe (disability category at least 11) 
  3. Brain injury or developmental disability, at least severe (disability category at least 11) 
  4. Another reason for impaired mobility, at least severe (disability category at least 11) 
  5. Visual disability, very severe (disability category at least 15)

Documents needed when purchasing a Travel Card

  1. Card user’s official identification document (an official identity card, passport, driver’s license, Kela card with a photograph). 
  2. Medical certificate. A link to the application form is at the bottom of this page. The  medical certificate can be written by a health centre physician, medical specialist or a private practitioner. The residents of Kirkkonummi can get a certificate from a health centre physician or a doctor at HUS or Jorvi. The eligibility criteria are included on the application form. The applications are dealt with at all Travel Card service points.
