Ticket alternatives
An employer-subsidized commuter ticket is a personal public transport ticket that is purchased for an employee by the employer. The decision to grant the ticket is made by the employer, who can pay the ticket in full or in part. The employer can charge part of the ticket price to the employees. Employers can purchase employer-subsidized tickets for their employees at any time of the year for the purchase of the tickets is not tied to the calendar year.
The employer can choose how to acquire and pay for the tickets:
1. Commuter voucher
An employer can purchase from HSL commuter vouchers worth EUR10, which it then distributes to its personnel. Commuter vouchers are the most flexible option for large companies and temporary employees. Employees can use the vouchers for loading period tickets or value on their personal Travel Cards. All customer groups can use commuter vouchers, including persons entitled to purchase tickets at concessionary prices.
2. Employer-subsidized commuter ticket valid for an unlimited time
An employer can conclude with HSL an invoicing agreement on employer-subsidized commuter tickets. The agreement is valid until further notice. This alternative suits best small and medium sized companies with permanent employees.
The ticket is loaded on the employees’ personal Travel Cards. The employer pays the tickets on a monthly basis by direct debit or invoice. Every 12th month after 11 continuous invoicing months is free of charge. The free month is card specific. The period of notice to terminate the invoicing agreement is 30 days.
