Payment methods
On buses and trams, you can pay the driver with cash or value loaded on Travel Card. On commuter trains, you can pay the conductor with cash or debit and credit card.
Please try to avoid paying with large bills as the driver/conductor may not have enough change. Drivers do not have to accept bills larger than EUR 20. A maximum of 50 coins should be used per payment.
All sales points and ticket machines accept cash.
Travel Card value
You can use value loaded on your Travel Card for purchasing tickets onboard, as well as at Travel Card service points. Also ticket machines selling multiple tickets accept value loaded on a Travel Card for paying for single or day tickets.
Debit and credit cards
On buses and trams it is not possible to pay with debit or credit cards. On commuter trains debit and credit cards can be used.
Travel Card service points accept debit cards.
At HSL service points at the Central Railway Station and Itäkeskus you can pay with both debit cards and most common credit cards.
Also ticket machines selling multiple tickets accept debit and credit cards.
