Season tickets
A season ticket is the most economic choice for regular users of public transport. It allows free travel within the validity of the ticket. From the beginning of 2013, season tickets will be valid also during the night fare hours from 2am to 4.30am.
When using a season ticket, you only need to show your Travel Card to a card reader on buses without touching the reader. The reader’s light and audible signals tell you whether your card has been successfully registered or not.
Travel within one municipality or the entire region
You can get a regional season ticket which allows free travel on all buses, trams, commuter trains, the metro and Suomenlinna ferry in the validity area of the ticket. If you choose an internal season ticket for one zone, i.e. Helsinki, Espoo-Kauniainen, Vantaa, Kerava-Sipoo or Kirkkonummi, you can also travel freely on all modes of transport but only within the municipality in question.
General season ticket for non-residents
General season tickets can be purchased by anyone regardless of the home municipality. General season tickets are more expensive than season tickets sold to residents of the Helsinki metropolitan area.
You can also load value on your Travel Card and use it for purchasing individual tickets. You can use the value for paying the night fare (season tickets are not valid during the night fare hours), or for paying the fares of your companions.
