HSL provides advice on the best cycling routes at the Bike Fair
HSL promotes its Journey Planner for Cycling at the Bike Fair on March 5-7 at the Helsinki Fair Centre. The Journey Planner for Cycling (www.reittiopas.fi/en) provides you with the best cycling routes in Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen, Kerava, Kirkkonummi and Vantaa. HSL hosts stand 6k51 together with the Network of Finnish Cycling Municipalities and the Helsinki City Planning Department.
At the Fair, HSL introduces the Journey Planners’ s new feature, an altitude contour which shows the ascents and descents of the selected route. Visitors can participate in a Journey Planner questionnaire and win public transport day tickets and chocolate.
Information session on cycling in Finland on 5 March
The Network of Finnish Cycling Municipalities holds an information session on Cycling in Finland in the Auditorium of the Helsinki Fair Centre on 5 March from 12am to 2pm. The session provides information e.g. on carrying bicycles on trains. Bicycles can be carried on commuter trains in the Helsinki region free of charge outside peak hours during a trial lasting until the end of 2010.
HSL is committed to promoting low-emission transport modes. Cycling is an excellent mode of travel when we want to reduce adverse environmental impacts of traffic. Combining cycling and public transport makes you more fit and allows you to commute in a more environmentally friendly way.
Advise on public transport as well as walking and cycling routes is available also by calling HSL's Travel Information Centre, 0100 111. Personal service is available Mon-Fri 7am-7pm and Sat-Sun 9am-5pm (0.98 euros/call + local network charge).
