Use public transport to get to the European Athletics Championships 

HSL will provide additional bus and tram services during the European Athletics Championships held at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki 27 June – 1 July. To avoid traffic jams and parking problems, use public transport to get to the venue. You can also buy an HSL day ticket at a discounted price by showing your event ticket. 

Additional services in the evenings

During the Championships, HSL will provide additional services especially in the evenings after the award ceremonies. Additional services will be provided on Helsinki internal bus route 43, 63 and 69, as well as regional bus routes 231, 231N, 248A, 270, 270A and 452K. There will also be two additional tram services, 8X and 10X.

Discount on HSL’s day tickets for European Championships visitors

HSL encourages spectators to use public transport by offering a 50 % discount on day tickets. You can get the discount by showing your event ticket. For example, a one-day regional ticket for adults costs only EUR 6.

Discount-price day tickets can be purchased at HSL’s service point at the Central Railway Station 1 – 30 June. You can purchase a day ticket for as many days as your event ticket is valid (1-5 days). You can purchase one day ticket per an event ticket.

Once the Championships begin on 27 June, one-day tickets will be available also at HSL's temporary sales point at the Event Park. The sales point is open during the opening hours of the Event Park.

Good public transport connections to the venue

If you are coming from the city center, you can get to the Olympic Stadium e.g. by trams 4, 4T, 7A and 10. The closest tram stop is “Töölön halli”. You can also use any of the buses leaving from Elielinaukio and running along Mannerheimintie. The closest bus stop is “Töölön kisahalli”. If you are coming by train, get off at Pasila and take the tram 7B to the Stadium. Remember you can use the Journey Planner to find the best route.  

Tram routes diverted due to the opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the European Athletics Championships 2012 will be held on Tuesday 26 June from 6pm to 11pm at the Senate Square. Aleksanterinkatu, Snellmaninkatu and Unioninkatu will be closed to traffic during the ceremony.

Tram routes 1A, 3B, 3T, 4, 4T, 7A and 7B will be diverted approximately from 6pm to 11.30pm. The trams will be partly replaced by buses 3X and 4X.
