The opening of the new Metro line will affect also bus services. The introduction of the West Metro will cause major changes to bus routes in South Espoo and Lauttasaari and the existing bus routes running to Kamppi along Länsiväylä will be withdrawn. Major changes to public transport are underway in the Helsinki region. Transport services to the west of Helsinki city center will undergo a massive change. The transport system in Lauttasaari and South Espoo will be fundamentally transformed by the Metro extension. There will be changes to Metro services as well as bus routes.
Originally, the Metro extension was scheduled to open on 15 August 2016 but the completion of the new line has been delayed. Consequently, there were no major changes to bus services in Espoo on 15 August and only some changes took place in Lauttasaari.
