Helsinki Metro will be extended by 14 kilometers to Matinkylä in Espoo. The operation on the extension will begin approximately in September 2017. More information about the changes to Metro services: www.hsl.fi/en/west-metro/metro.
The opening of the new Metro line will affect also bus services. The introduction of the West Metro will cause major changes to bus routes in South Espoo and Lauttasaari and the existing bus routes running to Kamppi along Länsiväylä will be withdrawn. Transport services to the west of Helsinki city center will undergo a massive change. The transport system in Lauttasaari and South Espoo will be fundamentally transformed by the Metro extension. There will be changes to Metro services as well as bus routes.
