Always wear a face mask on public transport

We remind all public transport users that face masks must be worn when travelling by public transport. Remember also to follow other safety instructions when travelling on our services.

We consistently receive customer feedback raising concerns about people not wearing a face mask. Currently, on average 80 per cent of passengers wear a face mask on HSL public transport.

“The safety of public transport and the safety of passengers is our first priority. We are doing everything we can for the safety of public transport and we urge our customers to strictly adhere to all health security guidelines,” says HSL’s Executive Director Mika Nykänen.

We are strengthening our communications about face masks onboard public transport and at stations. In addition, ticket inspectors and security guards may ask passengers to wear face masks if necessary.

We ask all passengers to always wear a face mask on public transport unless unable to do so for medical reasons.
