Restrictions on passenger numbers on public transport in the HSL area to be lifted from 26 April

Due to the improving coronavirus situation, the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom has issued a decision that the restrictions on passenger numbers on public transport in the region of the Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) will be lifted from 26 April. The last day of the restrictions will be Sunday 25 April. All of HSL services operate within the HUS area.

However, we want to remind passengers of safe travel. All passengers aged 12 or over must wear a face mask on public transport. It is still important to practice good hand hygiene and keep a safe distance from other people where possible. Thank you to all our passengers for keeping public transport safe also during these exceptional times.

The restrictions on passenger numbers on HSL public transport took effect on 27 March. The restrictions limited the maximum permitted number of passengers on public transport to 50 per cent of the normal capacity.

Our passenger numbers have been significantly lower than this: for example, on the metro, the highest observed occupancy rate of a train has been just over 30 per cent of the maximum capacity.
