The services account for over 11 percent of the number of the route kilometers of HSL’s bus services. The total number of kilometers amounts to approximately 91 million a year, and a maximum of 1,200 vehicles are needed for the bus routes on weekdays. The costs of the tendered services are approximately EUR 34.5 million a year.
Share of electric buses 90 percent at the end of contract period
105 new electric buses will be added to the tendered bus routes in August 2022, and the number will rise to 111 in August 2023. Moreover, 19 vehicles equipped with an internal combustion engine will be replaced with electric buses later on. This means that no later than at the end of the contract period in 2030 there will be 130 electric buses serving the routes, amounting to 90 percent of the bus fleet.
Six operators took part in the tendering process. The bids were evaluated using the Most Economically Advantageous Tender criteria in accordance with the tendering principles approved by the HSL Executive Board.
