We have published the first draft of new bus routes for Tapiola and Leppävaara. You have until Sunday 24 October to comment on the draft. You can comment:

The biggest changes to bus routes are:
- Light rail line 550 will start operating between Itäkeskus and Keilaniemi in 2024.
- Trunk bus route 550 will stop running when the light rail line starts.
- At the request of customers, we are proposing a new, fast bus route 523, Leppävaara – Tapiola – Westendinasema, that would run via Ring Road I.
- In the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic, on peak demand for bus services will permanently remain lower than before and services will probably be shifted from peak times to off peak daytime hours. This would also enable the introduction of the new route, 523.
We invite customers to comment on the draft plan as we will further develop the plan based on the comments we receive. Best public transport services are designed together and now is your opportunity to voice your opinion.
The aim is that our Executive Board would decide on the new routes sometime this autumn.
When developing the draft plan, we surveyed the travel habits of people who travel in Tapiola and Leppävaara. In early September, we held workshops to learn more about customers’ thoughts and expectations.
We want to ensure effective public transport links between Tapiola and Leppävaara also after the introduction of the light rail line. The plan covers bus routes 52, 104, 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 118, 118B, 202, 203, 502, 548 and 549.
The routes serve areas around Leppävaara, Kilo, Mankkaa, Niittykumpu, areas around Tapiola as well as Haukilahti and Westend.
