Moderate increases to some season ticket prices at the beginning of 2022

Ticket prices are set to increase slightly at the beginning of 2022. The prices of AB, BC, CD and D season tickets will rise by EUR 2.60–3.30 a month. The prices of ABC, BCD and ABCD tickets as well as the prices of single and day tickets will remain unchanged.

Increases are being made to fares for short journeys because the longest public transport journeys have been impacted the most by the coronavirus pandemic and we do not want to further decrease their demand by price increases. The prices of single and day tickets will also remain unchanged because increased remote working and changed travel needs have increased demand for occasional public transport journeys. The prices of multi-user tickets and general season tickets will not change. The average price increase will be 1.6 per cent.

We want to ensure that public transport is as attractive as possible for our customers now that the society is gradually reopening following the lifting of Covid restrictions. Public transport is a good option also for leisure journeys.

HSL budget for 2022 has been prepared assuming that the public transport use rate will be 23 per cent lower next year than in 2019. As public transport operating costs are on a slight rise, a slight increase in prices is necessary to cover the costs.
