We continue to plan new bus routes for Laajasalo together with residents

We are relaunching the planning of Laajasalo bus routes after a nearly 18-month break. We are developing the plan in close interaction with Laajasalo residents. Bus routes in the area need to be reviewed in order to create an effective network of tram and bus services for Laajasalo.

We continue to plan new bus routes for Laajasalo. The planning was put on hold in autumn 2020 while we waited for decisions on the routes and timetables of trams running via the Kruunusillat Bridges. Our Executive Board decided on the routes and timetables in December 2021.

Laajasalo is facing major changes as population in the area grows and tram services start running via the Kruunusillat Bridges approximately in 2027.

We are drawing up a bus network development plan until the launch of the tram services and planning bus routes after trams start running via the Kruunusillat Bridges.

The aim is to create an effective network of tram and bus services for Laajasalo. The plan covers years 2023 through 2030 and includes bus routes 84, 85, 85B, 86, 88, 88B and 89.

Interaction through a blog

In order for the new bus routes to serve public transport customers as well as possible, we need input from people who live or travel in Laajasalo.

The most important channel of interaction will be the blog about the plan written by our public transport planners where residents and others can comment on the plan. The blog is in Finnish. We will publish the first draft route network plan on the blog in late April and will ask for comments on the draft through a survey.

We may also hold resident workshops during the spring, if need be. We gathered background information through a travel survey in autumn 2020. We also held two resident workshops.

Our Executive Board is expected to discuss the plan in June 2022.
