Helsinki celebrates the end of the holiday season with art performances around public transport stops on Thursday 11 August

The surroundings of the tram and metro stops in the center of Helsinki and the Helsinki Central Railway Station will be transformed into stages, gig spots and street theaters to delight people on the first day of school on Thursday 11 August. We therefore encourage everyone to pay attention to their surroundings between 7.30am and 9am as well as 4pm and 5.30pm.

The program includes performances in the vicinity of the following tram stops: Lasipalatsi, Vanha Ylioppilastalo (Old Student House), Mikonkatu, Aleksanterinkatu, Senaatintori (Senate Square), Johanneksenkirkko (St. John’s Church), Kampintori, Fredrikinkatu, Erottaja and Central Railway Station.

In addition, performances will take place in the platform area of the Helsinki Central Railway Station, on the upper level of the Metro entrance in Citycenter, in the Opintoputki tunnel at the University of Helsinki Metro Station and in the central circle of the Kamppi shopping center.

There are a lot of performances to choose from: for example, a street theater performance, freestyle rap, a violin duo, danceable songs, a salsa dance show and a recitation. Read more about the artists and the event in an article by the City of Helsinki.

The event is produced by the City of Helsinki in partnership with HSL. Citycenter, Kamppi Helsinki, Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd and VR have also contributed to making the event possible.

The event is subject to weather conditions.
