Kruunuvuorenranta ferry service popular with commuters during the winter period

In January, HSL carried out a study on customer satisfaction with the Kruunuvuorenranta ferry service. 90 percent of those who took the survey said that the ferry is a pleasant way to travel. During the winter period, approximately 70 percent of the respondents were commuters who had chosen the ferry due to the fact that it makes their commuting faster.

“The ferry is also attractive as a mode of transport due to its charmingly different nature. You even get to know the crew a little bit,” says one of the respondents.

The winter season has had no effect on the overall satisfaction among customers. Compared to the previous survey carried out in August 2023, the overall rating for the ferry service has remained almost unchanged: the share of satisfied customers was 86 percent in January and 85 percent in August. The crew on the ferry were praised for their friendly service. Over half (59 percent) of the respondents were of the opinion that the ferry will increase the use of public transport.

Passengers also had ideas on how to improve the ferry service. For instance, they hoped that the ferry would run more frequently that every 50 minutes. Extending the operating hours of the ferry was also a common request: customers hoped that the ferry operated an hour earlier in the morning and then continue to operate later in the evening.

The survey was conducted as a QR code survey between 9 and 10 January 2024. A total of 261 passengers took the survey.
