This year, Cycling Week celebrates equal opportunities for cycling under the theme "Cycling for All.” An inclusive transport system accommodates cyclists of all ages and skill levels, encouraging smart and considerate traffic behavior.
The event week kicks off on Saturday, 3 May at Kansalaistori Square in Helsinki, where you can get your bike checked for free and decorate it in a tuning workshop. More information about the week is available on HePo's website.
"This year, the Helsinki Metropolitan Area Cycling Week events will feature bike models that are still rare on the streets, giving people the chance to try them out. Our goal is to help people find a bike that suits them best. We want to emphasize that everyone is warmly welcome on the bike paths," says Henni Ahvenlampi, Executive Director of Helsinki Region Cyclists (HePo). Our goal is to help individuals find a bike that suits them best.

"Cycling is for everyone, and so are the city bikes. Sustainable modes of transport complement each other, and we hope that during Cycling Week, many people will discover how easily cycling can fit into their daily lives. City bikes are perfect for those who only need to cycle part of their journey, as they eliminate the hassle of finding a place to park their bike at the end of the ride," says Samuli Mäkinen, HSL's sustainable mobility expert.
The Helsinki Metropolitan Area Cycling Week is coordinated by Helsinki Region Cyclists (HePo). The week's events are organized in cooperation with the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, and Vantaa, Helsinki Region Transport, and other operators in the cycling sector. HePo volunteers will also contribute to the events.
