Metro and tram services disrupted on Friday 2 February due to a strike. Bus services resuming from 6pm

Metro and tram service are not operating on Friday 2 February due to a strike. The services will operate as usual from Saturday morning. Most bus services in the HSL area do not run on Friday 2 February 3am-6pm.

  • The Metro does not operate throughout the day.
  • Trams do not operate throughout the day nor on Friday night.
  • Most bus services do not run 3am-6pm. Some bus services are running, for details see below
  • Commuter trains and the Suomenlinna ferry operate as usual.

If possible, we advise passenger to use commuter trains or to walk, cycle or ride-share.

Bus services on Friday afternoon

You can follow the running of buses in real-time in a trial service at dev.hsl.fi/live

On Friday afternoon, about one fourth of bus services are running. 

Trunk routes 550 and 560 are running approximately every 15 minutes. From these routes, passengers can change to trains at several locations.

In East Helsinki, passengers are advised to take bus 550 or 560 to a train station. On route 54, Itäkeskus-Pukinmäki-Pohjois-Haaga-Pitäjänmäki, nearly all services are operated. In Laajasalo, most bus services are not running. In Herttoniemi, some services are operated on route 58/B. On route 506, Myllypuro-Latokartano-Pasila-Meilahti, several services are operated. In Kulosaari, bus 16 runs nearly as usual. 

In North-East Helsinki, bus 75 is running about every 30 minutes. Otherwise we advise passengers to use commuter trains. On route 506, Myllypuro-Latokartano-Pasila-Meilahti, several services are operated.

In North Helsinki, some services are operated on routes 64, 65, 66 and 67

In West Helsinki, we advise passengers to use commuter trains if possible. Buses 14, 39B, 43 and 550 are running about every 15 minutes. On route 54, nearly all services are operated. On routes 51, 52, 57, 58 and 552, some services are operated.

In Lauttasaari, buses 20 and 21/B operate as usual. Bus 21 goes to Erottaja.

In South Espoo, some services are operated on routes 531 and 542. These go to Espoon keskus, where passengers can transfer to train. Buses 550 and 551 run from Tapiola about every 15 minutes. Passengers can transfer to trains at Leppävaara or Pasila. Some services are operated on routes 113 and 114.

In North Espoo, bus 565 runs as usual. Passengers can change to commuter train at Myyrmäki or Espoon keskus. Other routes only operate a few services.

In East Vantaa, only a few services are operated. Buses 785-788/K run as usual.

In Central Vantaa, bus 571 runs about every 20 minutes, bus 615 about every 15 minutes.

In West Vantaa, we advise passengers to use commuter trains, if possible.

In Sipoo, nearly all services are operated.

In Kerava, around Korso and Kivistö, we advise passengers to use commuter trains.

In Tuusula, U line buses are operated nearly as usual.

In Kirkkonummi, all services on route 901 / K are operated. On routes 171-174, 902 and 911, some services are operated. Lapinkylä bus routes (900 series) are not running at all. From 7.10pm all services operate as usual.

In addition, other routes operate some services.

Services to resume after the strike

Bus services are expected to resume gradually after 6pm. Late night services and night bus services are expected to operate normally.

Tram and Metro services will resume on Saturday morning.

No Metro services on Friday evening 2 February, buses running

Metro feeder services resume gradually form 6pm. However, the Metro is not running. Metro services resume on Saturday morning.

According to HKL, all Metro stations are closed on Friday, but where possible, business premises at the stations can be accessed. On Saturday morning, Metro stations open as usual. 

No replacement services, Journey Planner shows the routes mainly running

HSL does provide replacement bus services because bus drivers as well as Metro and tram drivers are on strike. There is no staff to provide replacement services.

Season ticket refund

HSL will refund one day of season tickets valid on 2 February 2018 for passengers who have not been able to use public transport on their regular journeys due to the strike. Refund is given as a season ticket or value loaded on Travel Card. In order to get the refund, customers must visit a Travel Card service point. No application form is necessary. Customers can claim for refund from Saturday 3 February 2018.  Refund must be claimed within two months. Taxi fares will not be refunded.
