There will be major changes to public transport in Helsinki city center on Saturday 19 May about 11.30am-9pm due to Helsinki City Running Day. Tram routes 1, 2, 3, 6T, 8 and 9 as well as bus routes 8X, 14, 18, 20, 21/B, 24, 502, 551 and U line buses 280, 643T, 644, 662/T, 665/A/B/N will be diverted. In addition, delays are expected to buses 58, 69, 506, 551 and 848. The trams and buses will serve all stops along the diversion routes. Diversions to tram routes and replacement buses
12noon – 6pm tram 1 will run in both directions along Mannerheimintie, Nordenskiöldinkatu, Viipurinkatu, Läntinen Brahenkatu and Helsinginkatu. 
(Map showing the diversion route). The “Ooppera” (0241 and 0242), “Kaupunginpuutarha” (0243 and 0244), “Linnanmäki” (0245 and 0246), and “Urheilutalo” (0247 and 0248) tram stops will not be served.
Tram 2 will turn around by the Market Square 12noon – 6pm. (Map showing the diversion route). The “Olympiaterminaali” (0434 and 0435) and “Eteläranta” (0432 and 0433) will not be served.
Tram 3 will run to the Pursimiehenkatu terminus of tram 12noon – 6pm. (Map showing the diversion route). The following stops will not be served: “Olympiaterminaali” (0434 and 0435), “Kaivopuisto” (0436 and 0437), “Neitsytpolku” (0438 and 0439), “Kapteeninkatu” (0440 and 0441) and “Eiran sairaala” (0442 and 0443).
- Replacement bus 3X will run between Lasipalatsi and Neitsytpolku (via Bulevardi and Fredrikinkatu) approximately 11.30am – 9pm. You can change to the replacement bus at the “Lasipalatsi” stop (1902). The bus will serve bus stops on Mannerheimintin, otherwise it will serve tram stops along the route.
Tram 6T will run to the West Terminal via Kamppi (route of tram 7) 3.30mpm – 7pm. Mannerheimintie, Bulevardi and Hietalahti will not be served.
Tram 8 will be diverted to run along Arabianranta, Hämeentie, Sturenkatu and Läntinen Brahenkatu to Sörnäinen Metro Station and continue along Hämeentie to Arabianranta about 12noon – 9pm. (Map showing the diversion route). The “Urheilutalo” (0247 and 0248), “Linnanmäki” (0245 and 0246), “Kaupunginpuutarha” (0243 and 0244) and “Ooppera” (0241 and 0242) tram stops will not be served.
- Replacement bus 8X will be diverted about 12noon – 9pm as Helsinginkatu will be closed to traffic. In Kallio, the terminus will be the “Urheilutalo” stop (2148) and departure stop will be “Urheilutalo” (2147) on Läntinen Brahenkatu. The Crusell Bridge will be closed for the duration of the event and the bus will run to the Salmisaari turnaround. Saukonpaasi will not be served.
Tram 9 will run to Salmisaari about 3.20pm – 4pm.
Diversions to bus routes
Bus 14 will run along Laivurinkatu, Tehtaankatu, Raatimiehenkatu, Pietarinkatu, Kapteeninkatu, Tehtaankatu and Laivurinkatu 3pm – 6.30pm. Terminus will be the “Neitsytpolku” stop (1207). The following stops will not be served: “Tehtaanpuisto” (1179 and 1180), “Perämiehenkatu” (0444 and 0445), “Munkkisaarenkatu” (1185 and 1186), “Hernesaarenkatu” (1187 and 1188), “Matalasalmenkuja” (1189 and 1190), “Henry Fordin katu” (1191 and 1192), “Pihlajasaarenkatu” (1193 and 1194) and “Hernesaaren laituri” (1195 and 1196).
Bus 18 will run along along Laivurinkatu, Pietarinkatu, Kapteeninkatu, Tehtaankatu and Laivurinkatu 3pm - 6.30pm. Terminus will be “Eiran sairaala” (1176). (Map showing the diversion route). The bus will not serve the “Eiran sairaala” (H1175) and “Eira” (H1177 and H1178) bus stops.
Bus 20 will not serve Katajaharju 11.30am – 8.30pm. In addition, Gyldeninkatu will not be served. The bus will serve the “Lahnalahden puisto” stops (1060 and 1061), terminus will be “Melkonkuja” (1051) on Itälahdekatu. (Map showing the diversion route. The bus will run along Lauttasaarentie, Särkiniementie, Wavulinintie, Heikkiläntie, Melkonkatu, Vattuniemenkuja, Vattuniemenkatu, Melkonkuja and Itälahdenkatu. The following stops will not be served: “Gyldénintie (M) (1026 and 1027), “Lauttasaaren kirkko” (1028 and 1029), “Kuikkarinne” (1030 and 1031), “Takaniementie” (1032 and 1033), “Viklakuja” (1034 and 1035), “Vaskiniementie” (1036 and 1037), “Koivusaarentie” (1038 and 1039) and “Katajaharju” (1040).
Buses 21 and 21B: The buses will run via Lauttasaarentie and Särkiniementie 11.30am – 8.30pm, the “Gyldenintie” bus stops (1026 and 1027) will not be served. (Map showing the diversion route). Instead, the buses will serve the “Lahnalahden puisto” stops (1060 and 1061).
Bus 24 will run along Korkeavuorenkatu, Tehtaankatu, Laivurinkatu, Pietarinkatu and Kapteeninkatu 3.30pm – 6.30pm. Terminus will be “Kapteeninpuistikko” (1205). (Map showing the diversion route). The bus will not serve the “Kapteeninpuistikko” (1206), “Meritori” (1208), “Merikatu” (1209) and “Neitsytpolku” (1207) bus stops.
Bus 502: Mäntymäentie will be closed to traffic from 6pm on Friday 18 May. Until the closure of Helsinginkatu on 19 May at 12.20noon, the bus will run in both directions along Helsinginkatu, Runeberginkatu and Ruusulankatu. The bus will not serve the “Töölön kisahalli” (2064 and 2065) bus stops.
Helsinginkatu will be closed to traffic on Saturday 19 May 12.20noon – 9pm and the bus will run via the Central Railway Station. (Map showing the diversion route). The following stops will not be served: “Kallion virastotalo” (0226, 0253 and 2129), “Castréninkatu (0227 and 0228), “Kuntatalo” (0229 and 2128), “Wallininkatu” (2126 and 2127), “Diakoniapuisto” (2066 and 2067), “Töölön kisahalli” (2064 and 2065) and “Ratikkamuseo” (1328 and 1329).
- The services from Merihaka 12.20noon – 8.22pm will run via Hakaniemen ranta, Siltasaarenkatu, Kaisaniemenkatu, Vilhonkatu, Mikonkatu, Kaivokatu, Mannerheimintie, Arkadiankatu, Runeberginkatu and Topeliuksenkatu.
- The services from Leppävaara station 12.06noon – 8.06pm will run along Topeliuksenkatu, Runeberginkatu, Arkadiankatu, Mannerheimintie, Postikatu, Kaivokatu, Kaisaniemenkatu, Siltasaarenkatu, Hakaniemen ranta, Sörnäisten rantatie and Haapaniemenkatu.
Buses 502 and 280: the “Munkkiniemen aukio” bus stop (1388) will not be served 11.30am – 5pm.
Bus 551 will not serve the “Munkkiniemen aukio” bus stop (1406) 11.30am – 6pm from Tapionaukio to Pasila. The bus will serve the “Munkkiniemen aukio” stop (1500).
Buses 643T 644, 662/T, 665/A/B/N, which usually run along Helsinginkatu, will run via Nordenskiöldinkatu and Vauhtitie 12.20noon – 9pm.
In addition, delays are expected to routes 58, 69, 551 and 848 on Nordenskiöldinkatu approximately 11.30am – 3.40pm. There may be other short-term disruptions to traffic in the city center.
