HSL public transport over the New Year: additional metro, train and bus services

On New Year’s Eve (31 December), a Friday service will operate and on New Year’s Day (1 January 2019), a Sunday service will operate. The metro and commuter trains to Helsinki Airport will operate until approximately 2.30am.

Public transport on New Year’s Eve

Liikenne ajetaan perjantain aikataulujen mukaan, ja lisäksi ajetaan runsaasti lisäliikennettä.

A Friday service will operate, with a plenty of extra services.

The metro will run three hours longer than usual.

Services will run on the Mellunmäki, Vuosaari and Matinkylä lines every ten minutes until the end of service, i.e. the metro will run between Tapiola and Itäkeskus at five minute headways.

The metro feeder bus service 84 from Herttoniemi Metro Station to Laajasalo will also run three hours longer than usual. Other metro feeder services will operate as usual.

In addition to the usual commuter train services, the following additional train services will operate on New Year’s nigth:
L trains from Helsinki to Kirkkonummi at 1.38am, 2.38am and 5.04am
L trains from Kirkkonummi to Helsinki at 2.37am and 3.37am
P trains from Helsinki via Myyrmäki to Helsinki Airport at 1.48am, 2.18am, 2.48am and 3.18am
I trains from Helsinki via Tikkurila to Helsinki Airport at 0.36am, 1.06am, 1.36am, 2.06am and 2.36am

In addition, there will be plenty of additional bus services.

Tram routes 2, 3, 4 and 7 as well as bus route 17 will be diverted from approximately 7.50pm due to the New Year celebrations at the Senate Square. Tram services will be replaced by buses, read more here.

In Siuntio, the service routes will operate a Monday service. There may be alterations to U line bus services.
