Passenger pavilion at the Market Square to be closed for renovation – a temporary waiting area will be available for passengers

The Suomenlinna ferry passenger pavilion at the Market Square will be renovated. The pavilion will be closed from Friday 13 March. A temporary waiting area will be opened for passengers. The renovation of the passenger pavilion will be completed in August 2020. The routes for departing passengers will change. The ferry service to Suomenlinna will operate as usual during the renovation. A separate HSL ticket sales point will be provided in the temporary waiting area in the summer.

In the renovation project, the passenger pavilion will be restored without changing its style and appearance. The wooden parts will be repaired, the lamps restored, and the floor and the roof of the building will be replaced. The passenger pavilion was completed in 1952 for the Olympics. The building has served as a waiting room for Suomenlinna ferry passengers and in summer it houses a ticket office.
