Refurbishment of Mellunmäki Metro Station to begin on 15 February

The refurbishment includes the replacement of the floor, wall surfaces and the roof above the platform area. Preparatory works will begin on 15 February. The station will remain open to passengers throughout the works.

Helsinki City Transport HKL will commence the refurbishment of Mellunmäki Metro Station on 15 February. The roof above the platform area, floors and facade will be replaced. Lighting will also be improved and fixtures and fittings such as benches will be refurbished. New glass surfaces and skylights will allow more natural light into the platform area.

The station will remain accessible for all passengers

The metro station and both of the entrances will remain open throughout the works. There will be changes to access routes to and at the station as the works progress. Parts of the platform area and access routes to the platforms will be closed, for example, for tiling works.

Accessible route to the the platform area will remain available throughout the works. Accessibility was an important consideration in the design of the refurbishment. Once the works are completed, there will be floor markings to assist the visually impaired.

Works will continue throughout the year

Preparatory works will begin on 15 February 2021. Works that may affect access routes are expected to begin in March. The works are scheduled to be completed by the beginning of 2022.
