Pedestrian tunnel at University of Helsinki Metro Station to reopen on 1 September

The renovation of the Opintoputki pedestrian tunnel connecting the University of Helsinki Metro Station and Yliopistonkatu has now been completed. The tunnel will open for passengers on Wednesday 1 September.

The renovation of the Opintoputki pedestrian tunnel connecting the University of Helsinki Metro Station and Yliopistonkatu has now been completed. The tunnel and entrance D located at the end of the tunnel will open for passengers on Wednesday 1 September.

The purpose of the renovation was to improve the station’s safety and usability as well as enhance its visual appearance through new surfaces and artwork.

The renovation also improved the station’s accessibility. You can find an accessible route through entrance D. The renovation of the tunnel began on 1 March and was carried out by Helsinki City Transport (HKL).
