Metro to switch to summer timetables on 20 June – metro trains to depart from both tracks in Matinkylä during summer

The Metro will begin operating its summer timetable on Monday 20 June. We increased the number of services between Matinkylä and Tapiola on weekday and Saturday evenings. Additionally, the turnaround track in Matinkylä will no longer be used. Instead, the metro trains will be turned around by reversing their direction. In other words, metro trains to Helsinki will use both tracks to depart one at a time.

The Metro will switch to summer timetables on Monday on 20 June. In the summer, morning services from east to west will begin operating earlier than before. Respectively, evening services from west to east will continue to operate longer than before.

During summer, services between Tapiola and Itäkeskus will run every four minutes at peak times. Services will run on the Vuosaari, Mellunmäki and Matinkylä lines at 7.5-minute headways.

Therefore, there may be trains at the station waiting for next services to depart. It is therefore advisable to check the electronic timetable displays at the station to make sure from which track your service will depart.
