Longer walking distance to tracks 10–13 at the Helsinki Central Railway Station as of 14 August

The next phase in the construction of the Kaisa Tunnel at the Helsinki Central Railway Station will begin on Sunday 14 August, which will affect tracks 10, 11, 12 and 13. As a result, the walking distance to these tracks will become longer on 14 August. Additionally, the construction work near tracks 14–17 will be completed, meaning that passengers can once again use the regular access routes to reach the trains.

The timetable of the project has been updated, and the new completion date for the project is February 2024.

Changes at the Helsinki Central Railway Station in August:

  • A new construction site will be set up by tracks 10, 11, 12 and 13. As of 14 August, all trains on the above-mentioned tracks will stop in the northern side of the construction area. As a result, the walking distance will become longer for passengers on said platforms.
  • The new construction site was already partially fenced during July. In addition, a new construction fence will be set up along platforms 10–11 and 13–14.
  • Over the course of August, a route will be built over tracks 10 and 11 near the southern end of the construction site and a route over tracks 10, 11, 12 and 13 near the northern end.
  • The access routes that will be in use once all the arrangements have been finished in August are depicted in the picture below. The fencing and signs will direct passengers.
  • Construction work will be completed at the southern construction site by tracks 14, 15, 16 and 17 during July–August. Train services on these tracks will resume to normal on 12 August.

The changes to access routes will remain in place until early autumn 2023. The contractor will continue to update their Facebook page with relevant information about the project.
