Ainola railway station to open on Sunday 10 December

Ainola railway station in Järvenpää will open for passenger use on Sunday 10 December 2023. R and T trains will again serve the station as usual.

You can already find all up-to-date timetables in the Journey Planner on HSL.fi and in the HSL app. The construction of an additional track on the eastern side of the railway line between Kytömaa and Ainola in Järvenpää began last spring. The station was closed in June 2023 in order to ensure the safety of the construction work.

Constructing the additional track between Kytömaa and Ainola on the eastern side of the current track is part of the Helsinki–Riihimäki track project. The project will improve the operational reliability of the main railway line and enable increased passenger traffic. Once the project is complete, there will be at least four tracks along the whole Helsinki–Riihimäki line section.

According to estimate, the new eastern track and the eastern platform at the station in Ainola will be completed by the end of 2024. Furthermore, construction work is set to begin next year also on the western side of the railway line. The goal is to complete the new western track and the new platform by the end of 2026.
