Passengers satisfied with ferry services to Suomenlinna

Suomenlinna ferry passengers gave HSL’s services a very good overall rating in a customer satisfaction survey conducted in the summer. The overall rating was 4.26 on a scale of 1 to 5. A total of 90 per cent of passengers were satisfied with the ferry services.

Passenger satisfaction with the services has remained high, despite the number of passengers during the summer months increasing year after year. The overall rating given to the operator was particularly high, 4.49. Suomenlinna ferry is operated by Suomenlinnan Liikenne Oy.

The high satisfaction rate is partly explained by that especially during the summer months, a large proportion of the journeys are for leisure purposes. Ferry passengers who live on the island permanently are on average less satisfied with the service, with 82 per cent of of them being satisfied compared to 91 per cent of passengers who do not live on the island.

However, Suomenlinna residents were more satisfied than other passengers with the ferry staff’s ability to serve, with up to 94 percent being satisfied. The residents’ satisfaction with the availability of information about the services and timetables clearly improved from summer 2018. One of the reasons behind the improvement is that stop-specific timetables are now more easily available on the Journey Planner.

In addition, an entry gate for residents only was introduced on the Market Square pier. A similar entry gate for residents was opened on Suomenlinna already in 2017.

HSL measures passenger satisfaction with Suomenlinna public transport services using a survey conducted between 1 June and 31 August. Over 1,200 ferry passengers responded to the survey in summer 2019.
