Changes to public transport in summer 2020 due to street and track works

There will be changes and diversions to HSL public transport services in summer 2020 due to street and track works. The works will affect in particular tram services. For example, tram routes 2, 7 and 9 will be diverted. There will also be changes to train services, for example, due to bridge repair work in Pukinmäki. Detailed information about individual service changes will be published in due course. Detailed timetables for all services are available in the Journey Planner four weeks ahead.

From 4 May: Trams 1 and 8 run via Sörnäinen Metro Station. Works on the upgrading of Hämeentie continue to the south of Sörnäinen.

From 4 May, trams 1 and 8 run via Helsinginkatu and the Sörnäinen Metro Station. Trams 6T and 7 continue to be diverted via Sturenkatu. In addition, the locations of bus stops by the Sörnäinen Metro Station have changed. The tram stop in the direction of the city center moved to a new location on Helsinginkatu, in front of Vaasanpuistikko. The shortest route to the metro is via the pedestrian crossing and entrance A. The works on the upgrading of Hämeentie continue between Sörnäinen and Hakaniemi.

1 June to 5 August: Resurfacing of floors at Koivusaari Metro Station

Koivusaari Metro Station will be closed for resurfacing of floors from 1 June. Trains will pass the station without stopping. There will be no changes to the Metro timetables.

During the resurfacing work, bus route 20 will provide alternative service to Isokaari and Katajaharju. Bus 104 serves Hanasaari and areas along Länsiväylä. The bus runs via Lauttasaari Metro Station.


From 1 June: Changes to bus bays at Herttoniemi Metro Station due to street work

Bay 12 at the Herttoniemi Metro Station will be relocated to the junction of Hiihtäjäntie and Hiihtomäentie, in front of Hiihtomäentie 14, due to street work. The bay is used by bus 81 to Herttoniemenranta and Kulosaari. Bus 83 to Tammisalo is using bay 9 in front of entrance A on the Hiihtömäki side of the station.

15 June to 9 August: Changes to R, Z and D train services due to bridge work in Pukinmäki, K trains operate a reduced service.

Repair work on the bridge over Ring Road I will affect train services on the main line from 15 June to 9 August 2020. There will be minor changes of up to ten minutes to the departure and arrival times of long-distance trains at Helsinki, Pasila and Tikkurila stations. R trains will operate a reduced service, running every 60 minutes. At peak times, the trains will run more frequently. Additional bus services will be provided between Kerava, Järvenpää and Saunakallio. There will also be changes to the departure times of Z trains. K trains will run every 20 minutes.

15 June to 12 July: No tram service to Länsi-Pasila, replacement bus 2X will run between Lasipalatsi and Pasila 

Tram 2 will be diverted from Monday 15 June. There will be no tram service between Pasila station and Eläintarha. Replacement bus 2X will run between Lasipalatsi and Pasila. In addition, tram routes 7 and 9 will be diverted from 29 June to 12 July due to street work in Itä-Pasila. The route of replacement bus 2X will change in Itä-Pasila. 

The terminus of tram 7 will move to Ratapihantie, next to Pasila station, on 15 June. From 12 July, tram 2 will run a loop via Itä-Pasila back to Pasilansilta in front of the station and tram 7 will terminate on Ratapihantie.

The timetables for other tram routes will also change on 15 June. 

20-21 June: Changes to train services on the coastal line due to track work

There will be track works over the midsummer weekend. U and L trains will only run to Kauklahti, from where passengers can continue to Kirkkonummi by a replacement bus. The track works are related to the upgrading of Jorvas station.

From 29 June: Changes on Viilarintie in Roihupelto due to the construction of the Jokeri light rail line

Bus routes 92, 92N and 550 in the direction of Itäkeskus will be diverted in the Roihupelto industrial area via Holkkitie. The eastbound lane on Viilarintie will be closed due to the construction of the Jokeri light rail line. The buses will run along Viilarintie, Holkkitie and Tulppatie to Viilarintie, from where they will join their normal routes.

Bus 550 will not serve the Holkkitie bus stop (H4244). A replacement stop will be provided on the north end of Holkkitie. In the other direction, the buses will run as usual. Eastbound buses are expected to return to Viilarintie in early 2021.

20 July: Tram services in Hietalahti return to normal

The diversions of tram route 6/6T and bus routes 21 and 23N in the Hietalahti area will be discontinued and the trams and buses will resume their normal routes from Monday 20 July. In other words, tram 6 will resume running to Hietalahti and tram 6T to West Terminal via Bulevardi.

Over the summer: Changes to departure platforms at Pasila station

There will be changes to departure platforms at Pasila station due to track works. Please listen to station announcements and see station displays for up-to-date information.

Changes already known:

- Fri 5 June 11pm to Mon 8 June 5am changes to the departure platforms of E and U trains; platforms 7 and 8 closed at Pasila station.

- From Mon 8 June, E, U and Y trains in the direction of Huopalahti will use platform 8 instead of platform 7 Platform 7 will be closed.
