New tram routes: Option B

Changes to tram routes in different areas
Options A and B are identical for Jätkäsaari and the West Terminal.
- The Yliskylä light rail line (tram 12) will run between Hakaniemi and the West Terminal via Kamppi and Tyynenmerenkatu to Jätkäsaari.
- Tram 9 will be rerouted to run via Bulevardi.
- Tram 8 will continue to run along its current route.
Options A and B are identical in Hernesaari.
- The Vihdintie light rail line will run between Mannerheimintie and Hernesaari along Bulevardi as tram 6 currently does.
- Tram 6 will no longer serve Hernesaari.
Both option A and B in Laajasalo and Kalasatama have the following in common:
- The Yliskylä light rail line (tram 12) will offer a direct connection to the Helsinki Central Railway Station, Kamppi and the West Terminal.
- The Kruunuvuorenranta tram line (tram 2) will offer a direct connection to Kalasatama and Pasila.
- Tram 7 will run from Kalasatama via Pasila to the Meilahti hospital.
Option B also includes the following:
- Tram 7 will run via the Central Railway Station to Kolmikulma.
Both option A and B include the following in southern Helsinki:
- Tram 3 will continue to run along its current route.
- Tram 9 will be rerouted to run along Bulevardi and will therefore offer a direct link to Jätkäsaari.
- The Vihdintie light rail line will run along Bulevardi to Hernesaari.
Option B also includes the following:
- Tram 6 will run along the following route: Kaivopuisto–Kruununhaka–Hakaniemi–Sörnäinen–Arabia.
- Tram 5 will run via Fredrikinkatu and Topeliuksenkatu with high frequency along the route Eira–Kamppi–Töölö–Pasila.
- Tram 4 will run via Arkadiankatu and Topeliuksenkatu with high frequency along the route Kirurgi–Lasipalatsi–Töölö–Meilahti–Munkkiniemi (tram 10 will be rerouted to run to Katajanokka).
Both option A and B include the following in Pasila:
- Trams 2 and 7 will run from Kalasatama: tram 2 will run along route Kruunuvuorenranta–Kalasatama–Pasila and tram 7 along route Kaivopuisto–Kruununhaka–Hakaniemi–Kalasatama–Pasila–Meilahti hospital.
- Tram 9 will run between the city center and Pasila as it currently does and would then continue to Ilmala.
- From the direction of Töölö there is a tram link along Nordenskiöldinkatu to Pasila station.
- Tram 15 will run along route Pasila–Messukeskus–Vallilanlaakso–Viikki.
Option B also includes the following:
- Tram 5 that runs with high frequency provides a direct connection along the route Eira–Kamppi–Töölö–Pasila.
In all scenarios there are two trams running to Katajanokka. In option B these are:
- Tram 10 from Merisotilaantori: Katajanokka–Lasipalatsi–Töölön tulli–Pikku Huopalahti.
- Tram 1 from the terminal: Katajanokka Terminal–Kruununhaka–Central Railway Station–Kamppi–Töölö–Sörnäinen–Käpylä.
In all scenarios there are two trams running in Kruununhaka along Snellmaninkatu. Additionally, trams will run along Aleksanterinkatu with high frequency.
In option B the Kruununhaka tram lines are:
- Tram 6: Kaivopuisto–Market Square–Snellmaninkatu–Hakaniemi–Sörnäinen–Arabia
- Tram 1: Katajanokka Terminal–Snellmaninkatu–Central Railway Station–Kamppi–Töölö–Sörnäinen–Käpylä
- Tram 10 serving Katajanokka will run with high frequency along Aleksanterinkatu.
Both option A and B include the following:
- The Vihdintie light rail line (tram 14) will run along Mannerheimintie, Tukholmankatu, Paciuksenkatu and Huopalahdentie (the entire route: Hernesaari–Bulevardi–Erottaja–Töölön tulli–Paciuksenkatu–Munkkivuori–Lassila–Kannelmäki).
- Trams 4 and 10 will run with high frequency.
Option B also includes the following:
- Tram 4 will run via Arkadiankatu and Topeliuksenkatu along the following route: Kirurgi–Lasipalatsi–Töölö–Meilahti–Munkkiniemi.
- Tram 10 will run between Pikku Huopalahti and Lasipalatsi (as it currently does) and its southern terminus will be located in Katajanokka. The operating hours of the tram would be extended to 2am.
Both option A and B include the following:
- Trams 6 and 8 will continue to provide basic services between Arabia and Sörnäinen.
- Route for tram 8 will not change dramatically.
- Tram 6 will run via Kruununhaka.
- The Viikki-Malmi light rail line (tram 13) will run with high frequency along Kustaa Vaasan tie to the city center and to Viikki and the Helsinki-Malmi airport.
- Tram 15 will offer a direct connection to Pasila and via Viikki to Myllypuro.
Option B also includes the following:
- Tram 6 will run from Kruununhaka via the Market Square to Kaivopuisto.
Both option A and B include the following:
- The Tuusulanbulevardi light rail line will provide a direct connection via Mäkelänkatu to the city center.
- Tram 1 will run along Pohjolankatu until 11pm.
Option B also includes the following:
- Tram 1 will run between Käpylä and Töölö via Sörnäinen, as it currently does. From Töölö the route would continue via Kamppi and the Central Railway Station to Kruununhaka and Katajanokka.
