I have a prepaid subscription. Can I buy single/day tickets with HSL app?

You can pay tickets bought via the app with Visa, Visa Electron or MasterCard.

In case of a prepaid subscription, in most cases you can also buy HSL Mobile tickets by using the balance, provided you have enough balance for the purchase. However, mobile operators may have different practices and restrictions related to prepaid subscriptions. The best way to find out more is to contact your mobile operator and ask is it possible to pay HSL Mobile tickets with your subscription.

I have a business subscription. Can I buy single tickets/day tickets for myself?

It is even easier now that you can pay tickets bought via the HSL Mobile app with Visa or MasterCard.

Are mobile tickets accepted on buses? Trains? Trams? The Metro? Suomenlinna ferry? In Helsinki? In Vantaa? In Espoo? In Kauniainen? In Kerava? In Kirkkonummi? In Sipoo? In Siuntio? In Tuusula?

HSL mobile tickets are valid on all modes of transport in the entire HSL area. There are tickets for all HSL zones. You can easily select the zone every time you order a new ticket with the HSL Mobile ticket app.

How much do single tickets/day tickets bought with the HSL app cost? Are HSL mobile tickets more expensive than regular tickets?

HSL mobile tickets are accepted on all modes of transport in the entire HSL area. There are tickets for all HSL zones. You can easily select the zone every time you order a new ticket with the HSL Mobile ticket app.

How much do single tickets /day tickets bought with the HSL app cost? Are HSL mobile tickets more expensive than regular tickets?

Mobile single tickets cost the same as Travel Card value tickets. Mobile day tickets cost the same as day tickets bought from a sales point or ticket machine. Use the price calculator to check the price of the mobile ticket you need.

The app does not allow me to buy a ticket.  Why not?

You can pay your tickets with a debit/credit card or have them charged to your phone bill. You can charge HSL mobile tickets to your phone bill if you have a mobile data connection and you are allowed to charge purchases to your subscription's phone bill. If you are unable to buy a ticket, your phone may be set to block purchases. Please contact your phone operator or pay your ticket with a debit/credit card.

If the app does not allow you to charge the ticket to your phone bill, your phone may be connected to a wireless local network (WiFi). When the price of the ticket is charged to your phone bill, tickets can be purchased only via a mobile data connection. Go to your phone settings and switch off the WiFi to purchase a ticket. Alternatively, you can pay the ticket with a debit/credit card.

There may also be problems with the network connection or the service system may be busy. Please try to buy a ticket after a while.

If you have a VPN app (Virtual Private Network) running on your smartphone, it may prevent subscription identification and consequently, you cannot buy a ticket or charge it to your phone bill. Close the VPN app, if you are buying an HSL mobile ticket.

There is a newer version of the application available. Update the app from the app store.

How long is the ticket valid for?

City internal single tickets and regional as well as extended region 2 tickets bought with the HSL app are valid for 80 minutes, extended region 3 tickets for 100 minutes. Day tickets are valid for 1-7 days.

Are mobile tickets accepted on U line buses?

Yes, they are.

Can I buy mobile tickets with a tablet?

Yes, you can if your tablet has a SIM card and mobile data connection. You can pay tickets bought via the app with Visa, Visa Electron or MasterCard. Alternatively, your operator can charge the ticket to your data connection bill. If you have purchased a ticket with your tablet, your battery runs out and ticket inspectors want to check your ticket, you must know the phone number of your tablet's SIM card so that the inspectors can verify your purchase of a single ticket.

Can I buy child tickets with the HSL app?

Yes you can.

Can I buy tickets for all the family, adults and children, on the same phone?

You can buy mobile tickets for several people with your phone but you need to buy them one at a time. There are no mobile tickets for groups. Please note that you must complete the journey together.

Buying a ticket takes a long time and fails, why?

The operator’s mobile data network may be busy in large events, for example. You need a working mobile data connection to buy a ticket. Try again after a while or go to a place where the mobile data connection works better.

HSL ticket app gives me an error message saying “Unable to display the ticket, network connection not found.” What is the problem?

If your phone is not connected to the mobile data network when you open the app, the ticket cannot be displayed. Disable flight mode or enable mobile data in order to enable the ticket to be displayed.

HSL app gives me an error message saying “Unable to display the ticket. Please check the time on your phone”. What is the problem?

Please ensure that the time on your mobile phone is correct. The ticket app compares the system time with the time on your phone and if the time is not correct, for example, because of a different time zone, the ticket cannot be displayed. Set the correct time on your phone.

Can I buy a mobile ticket for my friend?

You can buy mobile tickets for several people with your phone but you need to buy them one at a time. There are no mobile tickets for groups. Please note that you must complete the journey together.

How can I get a receipt for a mobile ticket?

Open the ‘Purhase history and receipts’ view. Select a ticket in the purchase history to view the receipt for the ticket. Tap “Send” and the app will download the receipt as a PDF and open your email program so that you can send the receipt to the desired email address.

If you remove the app and reinstall it later, the receipts and purchase history will be erased. Please ensure that you have sent the receipts you need before you remove the app. The receipts are automatically erased from the app after three months.

Can I use mobile tickets for Park & Ride?

As HSL’s card readers do not currently recognize mobile tickets, the tickets cannot be use for Park & Ride at parking facilities that require a fee.
