Art by children and youth on HSL’s buses in April and May

In April and May HSL’s buses operated by Veolia Transport will
showcase art created by the students of Espoo School of Art.
Passengers can enjoy the artwork from the young artists from 2
April to 26 May on Espoo internal bus routes 11 and 13 as well as
regional bus routes 132, 143, 145, 147, 150, 154 and 156.

The mobile art exhibition is the result of cooperation
between Espoo School of Art, HSL and Veolia. The idea is to mark
the World Design Capital year by presenting art produced by
children in a new kind of mobile gallery and to cheer up bus
passengers.

“HSL’s previous campaigns bringing e.g. music and poetry to
tram passengers have been welcomed. When the Espoo School of Art
contacted us and presented the idea of showcasing art produced by
children on buses, we were excited. A cheerful piece of art on a
bus can be a refreshing amidst the hassles of everyday life," says
HSL's Director of Communications Mari Flink.

Espoo School of Art is the largest art school for children
and youth in Finland. It offers students from 5 to 20 years of age
a wide range of studies in visual arts implementing the national
curriculum for the comprehensive course in visual arts and the Act
on basic art education. The school has some 1,200 students. The
teachers are art educators, artists, architects, photographers and
professionals of arts and crafts.
