HSL is preparing a route network plan for Kerava

HSL has launched the development of a route network plan for Kerava for 2016-2026.

In the coming years, the Helsinki region public transport system will undergo major changes when, for example, the Ring Rail Line and West Metro open and HSL’s new ticketing and information system is introduced. In HSL’s opinion, the impacts of the changes on Kerava as well as other questions relating to transport development in Kerava need to be examined.

The route network plan covers Kerava internal bus routes and bus routes to Sipoo, Vantaa and Helsinki. In addition, a rough outline will be provided for the connections needed in the direction of Tuusula and Järvenpää. The plan also aims to take into account the construction of new residential and employment areas as well as other changes to the urban area. The route network plan for Kerava will be completed by the end of spring 2015.

Residents invited to follow the project

HSL strives to create an efficient, clear and regularly running bus route network for Kerava to serve the current travel needs as well as possible. Supply will be concentrated in areas with the highest passenger demand and potential. In addition, good feeder connections to stations will be ensured.

HSL is planning the route network together with the persons responsible for public transport in Kerava, residents as well as other important stakeholders. HSL has opened a blog on the route network planning project (in Finnish). On the blog, people can also discuss the plan and express their ideas.
