Changes to commuter train timetables as the Ring Rail Line opens on 1 July

There are significant changes to commuter train services in the Helsinki region when the Ring Rail Line opens on 1 July. The timetables of all commuter trains change with the exception of H, R, Z and Y trains and M trains no longer operate. New stations open between Vantaankoski and Hiekkaharju.

From Wednesday 1 July, I and P trains operate on the Ring Rail Line. I trains runs from Helsinki via Tikkurila station to Helsinki Airport, from where they continue back to Helsinki via Myyrmäki. P trains run the route in the opposite direction. The trains running every ten minutes Monday to Friday and on Saturdays stop at all stations along the route.

Four new Ring Rail Line stations open on 1 July: Vehkala, Kivistö, Aviapolis and Leinelä. The Helsinki Airport train station is set to open at the latest on 10 July when the Tietotie entrance is completed. Until then a non-stop free shuttle bus takes train passengers to the airport from the Aviapolis station.

10. From 10 July, trains stop also at the Helsinki Airport train station but the terminal entrance at the station will not open until later in the autumn. More information about transport links to the airport is available here.

The first I train leaves from the Helsinki Central Railway Station on Wednesday 1 July at 3.59am.

Main line: Changes to K, N and T trains

K trains (Helsinki-Kerava) start to run also during the daytime every day. From 1 July, N trains operating the same route and stopping at all stations will run only in the late evening and early morning as well as on weekend mornings.

T trains (Helsinki-Riihimäki) stopping at all stations continue to run as before (early morning, late evening and at night) but the late evening and night time timetables change.

There are no changes to the timetables of R, H, Z and Y trains.

Coastal line: more L train services

On the coastal line, L trains (Helsinki–Kirkkonummi, stops at all stations) start running already around 10.30pm every evening. Also the early morning and weekend morning operating hours of L trains are extended.

The operating hours of A, E, S and U trains shorten correspondingly.

There are no changes to the timetables of Y trains.

New visual image for commuter train information in the HSL area

From 1 July, HSL will be responsible for commuter train maps and timetable posters at trains stations in the HSL area. HSL's visual identity will in future apply, for example, to the train line maps in commuter trains and on station information boards.
