HSL’s pop up service points update students’ Travel Card in August and September

In August, HSL opens three extra service points in particular for students. In August and September, the pop up service points serve students as well as all other HSL Travel Card customers in the University of Helsinki Main Building, at the Viikki Campus in Helsinki and Otaniemi Campus in Espoo.

At the pop up service points, students can load the student discount entitlement on their HSL Travel Cards. In Viikki and Otaniemi, the service points also load season tickets and value. The pop up service points do not sell new Travel Cards. Travel Cards are available at HSL’s permanent service points at the Central Railway Station and Itäkeskus Metro Stations and in Pasila. More information about the student discount is available on HSL's website.

HSL’s Service Supervisor Eija Luoto reminds that in August and September, the service points are busy with plenty of customers.

“The best time to come is in the morning as the busiest hours are usually in the afternoon. The earlier you come in August, the shorter queues," says Luoto

In addition, she gives some tips to speed up the process at the service point:

1.If you have recently moved to the HSL area, make sure your address information has been updated into the population register. Submit your notification of change of address in good time: the update may take several days.

2. You get a discount ticket application form from your school. You can also print out the form from HSL’s website. Fill in the form carefully using a pen and ask your school to fill in the information required from the school. Do not use a pencil!

3. Have your Travel Card and student card or discount application form ready at hand.

4. You can visit any of the service points regardless of where you study and what. All customers are welcome to the pop up service points: you can visit a service point even if you are not a student.

5. Students over 30 years of age need to prove that Kela has granted them student allowance. If the certificate is over 3 months old, print out a certificate showing the months remaining on the grant on the Kela website. In secondary education, the grant month do not count.

6. Let your friends go for a cup of coffee while you wait. The service points may be crowded so you will have company anyway.
