Current bus routes keep running in South Espoo and Lauttasaari until the Metro extension is opened

On Monday 10 October, Länsimetro Oy announced that the West Metro will not open in January 2017. HSL will extend the current contracts for bus services in South Espoo, Kirkkonummi and Lauttasaari. The buses will run as at present for as long as service on the new Metro extension begins.

Direct bus services are available from South Espoo and Kirkkonummi to the Kamppi terminal in Helsinki. Most of the bus routes serving Lauttasaari also run to Kamppi.

“For us, the most important thing is to provide the best possible public transport service for our customers in all situations,” says HSL Executive Director Suvi Rihtniemi.

The company responsible for the construction of the Metro extension, Länsimetro Oy, will provide its new estimate for the completion of the works as the compliance testing proceeds. The previous schedule for the opening of the line in January 2017 will not be met.
