The leaflet presents the changes to the transport system brought about by the extension of the Metro. The leaflet contains, for example, new route maps and a list of bus routes.
The changes to bus routes affect in particular people living in South Espoo, Lauttasaari, Lehtisaari, Kuusisaari and parts of southern Kirkkonummi. At the same time, bus routes are renumbered in Espoo so that even if the routes of some buses do not change, the route numbers may change. HSL will eliminate duplicate route numbers in different municipalities and two-digit route numbers will in future be used only in Helsinki.
The information leaflet is distributed to all households in Espoo and Kauniainen as well as in Lauttasaari, Lehtisaari, Kuusisaari and southern Kirkkonummi.
“The changes to the transport system taking place in August are so big that we want as many people as possible to get information about them in good time,” says Jonne Virtanen, HSL Head of Group of route network and timetable planning.
You can find out more about the new routes at hsl.fi/westmetro.
Information at bus stops is being updated
The works to change stop signs start in Espoo this week. The works are started already because they take time to complete: there are in total 2,000 bus stops in Espoo, Kirkkonummi and Kauniainen. The works will continue until the autumn. New stop signs are installed at all stops in Espoo. In addition to the changes to routes and route numbers, the names of about 570 bus stops change in Espoo.
