Changes to commuter train ticket sales from 1 January 2018

HSL’s tickets will no longer be sold at VR’s ticket machines and VR’s booking offices from 1 January 2018. VR’s commuter train tickets purchased in 2017 are valid for travel in the HSL area until their expiry date.

From the beginning of 2018, Siuntio railway station and Jokela station in Tuusula will be part of the HSL area. From 1 January 2018, you can travel from Siuntio and Jokela stations to other stations in the HSL area with HSL’s tickets. VR’s commuter train tickets purchased in 2017 are valid for travel in the HSL area until their expiry date.

You can travel to/from train stations in Järvenpää (Järvenpää, Ainola, Saunakallio, Haarajoki) with HSL’s or VR’s tickets. You can also use  both HSL’s and VR’s tickets on journeys within Järvenpää and journeys from Järvenpää to the HSL area (Jokela, Kerava and stations to the south of Kerava).

One age limit for child tickets

The age limit on VR’s commuter train services will change on 1 January 2018. In the future, children under 7 years of age will travel for free also on VR’s commuter services. Child tickets are for children aged 7-16 years. The new age limit is the same as on HSL’s transport services. In addition, from 1 January 2018, an adult traveling with a pram can travel free of charge on both HSL’s and VR’s commuter train services.
