Discounts on tickets and information about shared mobility services on Car Free Day

The European Mobility Week will start on Saturday 16 September. This year the theme is clean, shared and intelligent transport. The week culminates in Car Free Day celebrated on Friday 22 September. HSL will offer discounts on tickets to mark the day.

What would be the best way to commute? Should I go to the gym by car or by bus? The European Mobility Week starting on Saturday 16 September encourages people to think about the best ways to travel and how their daily choices affect the environment and society. During the week, cities and municipalities around Europe organize events and campaign for smarter travel

The week culminates in the traditional Car Free Day on Friday 22 September. On Car Free Day, people are encouraged to give their car a day off and get around buy public transport, try ride pooling or hop on a bike.

Discounts on tickets

On Car Free Day, HSL offers discounts on Travel Card value tickets as well as mobile single tickets. One, two and three-zone mobile single tickets and value tickets for adults will cost only 1, 2 and 3 euros respectively. Fares for children and discount groups are 50 cents, 1 and 1.5 euros respectively.

Breakfast for cyclists and formation about shared mobility services

  On Friday 22 September, HSL and Helsinki Cyclists will offer breakfast for cyclists on Baana under the Porkkalankatu bridge. Breakfast will be offered to cyclists also at the parking areas of Mäkelänrinne, Myyrmäki and Leppävaara swimming halls. These events are organized by Ilmastoinfo and HSL.

 The theme of the week is clean, shared and intelligent transport. On Car Free Day, HSL, Sitra and Motiva will host an event to provide information about sharing economy services. The event will take place at Narinkkatori 11am-5-30pm.

Come and learn more about, for example, car-sharing, future public transport, city bikes and new apps allowing people to smoothly combine public transport, driving and other modes of transport.

HSL wants to encourage people to use sustainable modes of transport. The Helsinki region is growing rapidly and HSL’s goal is to direct the growth in traffic to public transport, walking and cycling.
