Taksikuljetus and Korsisaari win in bus tender

The latest round (44/2018) of HSL’s bus tender results have been announced. Most of the routes now tendered operate in Tuusula and Espoo. Following this bidding round, six new low-emission buses will enter into service.

From the beginning of 2019, routes 932, 964 and 974 mainly serving Tuusula will be operated by Korsisaari. Taksikuljetus Oy will operate routes 961, 965 and 979 in Tuusula from the beginning of next year. In addition, Taksikuljetus Oy will operate route 544 (Espoonlahti-Leppävaara) from 13 August 2018.

The contract period for Tuusula bus routes runs until the end of the summer timetable season 2019. The contract period for route 544 runs until the end of the summer timetable season 2023. The contracts include an option to extend for up to three years.

Six operators participated in this tender round. The HSL Executive Board awarded the contract to the most economically advantageous tenders.

The volume of the tendered services is about 0.5 million route kilometers a year, with 10 buses on weekdays. The services account for about one per cent of the bus services procured by HSL, both in terms of the number of vehicles and route kilometers. The total volume of bus services procured by HSL is 1,238 buses (weekday services) and about 91.5 million route kilometers per year.

Following this bidding round, six new Euro6 compliant buses will enter into service. The new buses are low-floor and equipped with air conditioning and driving style monitoring system.
