Tall Ships Races by public transport

Over 100 splendid sailing ships will arrive in Helsinki in July
when the city is hosting The Tall Ships Races from 17 to 20 July.
The Tall Ships Races is a sailing contest held in the Baltic Sea
region every fourth year.

In addition to some one hundred ships carrying over 2,500
sailors, about half a million visitors are expected to participate
in the event in Helsinki.

The event grounds include Hietalahti, Jätkäsaari and Hietalahti
shipyard. There will be changes to the traffic and parking
arrangements in these areas during the event as well as during the
construction and dismantling periods. The set-up of the event will
begin on Friday 12 July. The streets around the Hietalahti Market
Place will be closed to through-traffic from 12 to 22 July.
Emergency vehicles will be permitted and access to homes will be
maintained.

How to get to the there?

Visitors are advised to come to Hietalahti on foot or by
bike. The Metro is also a good option as the Ruoholahti and Kamppit
metro stationsa are only a 10-minute walk away from the event
venue. 

Tram routes 6 and 6X go to Hietalahti. During the event from 17
to 20 July, trams 6 and 6X will run every 12 minutes between 10am
and 10pm.

You can get close to the event area also by tram 9, bus 8X and
bus 14.
