On the eve of Independence Day Thursday 5 December, a Friday service will operate on transport services in the Helsinki region. Also the additional Christmas party season bus services will operate. In Espoo, service route will operate a Thursday service.
On Independence Day Friday 6 December, a Sunday service will operate. Several bus routes will have additional services. On U line buses, the SS services will not be running. Night services will run on the night of 6/7 December including the additional bus services operating during the Christmas party season and extended Metro service.

Also the following commuter trains will run: I trains from Helsinki at 10.46pm, 11.16pm and 11.46pm; I trains from Tikkurila at 11.46pm and 0.16am; N trains from Helsinki at 0.01am, 1.01am, 2.01am and 3.01am; N trains from Kerava at 0.45am, 1.45am, 2.45am and 3.45am; T trains from Helsinki at 2.31am and 4.01am; H train from Riihimäki at 11.14pm; T trains from Riihimäki at 0.37am and 1.37am; and L trains from Helsinki at 2.47am and 3.47am.
Diversion routes due to the students’ torchlight procession
Tram route 2 will use the following route in both directions approximately 5pm-5.20pm: Opera - Mannerheimintie - Lasipalatsi - Kaivokatu. The tram will not serve Runeberginkatu and Kamppi. The procession may cause some delays to routes 4 and 7A/B at the junction of Aleksanterinkatu and Snellmaninkatu.
The 4.44pm and 5.04pm services on bus route 24 will run along Pietarinkatu, Kapteeninkatu, Tehtaankatu, Laivurinkatu, Fredrikinkatu, Pohjoinen Rautatienkatu, Mechelininkatu and Linnankoskenkatu. The buses will not serve Korkeavuorenkatu, Mannerheimintie, Arkadiankatu and Hietaniemi. The 4.45pm and 5.05 services from Seurasaari will run along Mechelininkatu, Hietalahdenranta, Bulevardi and Yrjönkatu. The buses will not serve Hietaniemi, Pohjoinen and Eteläinen Rautatienkatu, Arkadiankatu and Mannerheimintie. The buses will stop at all bus stops along the diversion route.
HSL service points and customer service
On the eve of Independence Day, 5 December, HSL's service point at the Central Railway Station will be open until 5pm. On Independence Day the service point will be closed.
