Construction on a new hotel to begin at the Central Railway Station in Helsinki - Changes to access routes from 2 January

Construction on a new hotel will begin at the Helsinki Central Railway Station and there will be changes to access routes from 2 January 2019.

Changes to access routes to the Railway Square and Kaisankuja

The construction work will not directly affect train and bus services but there will be changes to access routes around the Central Railway Station from 2 January 2019.

Public transport

  • There will be changes to bus exit stops: the exit stop located on Läntinen Teatterikuja will move to Kaisaniemen puistokuja on 2 January 2019. The relocation will affect routes 633, 635, 785/K, 787/K and 788/K. The exit stop in front of the National Theatre will remain in place.

Pedestrians

  • Pedestrian access from the railway station to Läntinen Teatterikuja, i.e. in the direction of Kaisaniemi Park will be via the Railway Square (Rautatientori). The sidewalk on the station side of Läntinen Teatterikuja will be closed but the sidewalk on the National Theatre side of the street will remain open
  • Access to platforms 1-3 will be between the underpass and Kaisaniemi Park.

Taxis

  • The Central Railway Station taxi station will be closed. The closest taxi stations are at Elielinaukio and on Mikonkatu.
