Buses not running along Mannerheimintie on the mornings of 29-30 August due to an EU ministerial meeting - Major disruptions to traffic

Mannerheimintie will be closed to southbound buses from the Opera House on Thursday 29 August between 7am and 8.30am and on Friday 30 August between 7am and 8.30am due to an EU ministerial meeting taking place at the Finlandia Hall. However, trams will run along Mannerheimintie. The meeting will also affect traffic on exit roads from Helsinki to Helsinki Airport.

On Thursday 29 August 7.30am to 9.30am, buses usually operating from Elielinaukio will depart from the Mäntymäki Field, which can be accessed from Elielinaukio by trams 1 and 2 and from Lasipalatsi by trams 4 and 10. 

The meeting is expected to cause traffic congestion in the western central city areas and across downtown Helsinki and people are advised to use commuter trains, the metro and crosstown bus routes where possible, as well as to allow extra time for their journeys in the morning.

Changes to bus services to/from Elielinaukio on Thursday 29 August approximately 7am–8.30am and on Friday 30 August 7am–8.30am

  • Buses 38, 40 and 43 as well as buses 235, 321, 322, 332, 345, 411, 415, 421, 431, 431 and 436/K wil run to the Mäntymäki Field.  The “Kansallismuseo” (H1907), “Hesperian puisto” (H1908, H1909 and H1911) and “Töölön kisahalli” (H1914) stops will not be served. Passengers going to the city center from the Mäntymäki Field can take a tram from the “Ooppera” tram stops on Helsinginkatu and Mannerheimintie.

Changes to bus services to/from Kamppi terminal on Thursday 29 August approximately 7.30am–8.30am and on Friday 30 August 7.30am–8.30am

Buses to the Kamppi bus station will run via Runeberginkatu (Topeliuksenkatu and Haartmaninkatu) to their normal routes. Mannerheimintie will not be served to the south from Töölön tulli. This affects buses 63, 212, 213, 280, 346, 455(A), 457, 465, 662 and 848.

The following stops will not be served: “Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu” (H1273), “Kansallismuseo” (H1906), “Hesperian puisto” (H1908, H1909 and H1911), “Ooppera” (H1999), “Töölön kisahalli” (H1913, H1914 and H1915), “Kansaneläkelaitos” (H1916 and H1917) and “Töölön tulli” (H1918, H1919 and H1921).
