HSL public transport over the May Day bank holiday

On Tuesday 30 April, buses and commuter trains will operate a Friday service. On May Day, Wednesday 1 May, a Sunday service will operate. In Kirkkonummi and Siuntio, neighborhood routes will operate a normal Tuesday service on 30 April. Tram routes and bus route 17 and 24 will be diverted in downtown Helsinki on Tuesday. There will be additional bus, metro and commuter train services on 30 April and on May Day. On May Day night, the metro and commuter trains to Helsinki Airport will operate later than usual.

Tuesday 30 April

Bus services

Buses will operate a Friday service, with additional services. In Kirkkonummi and Siuntio, neighborhood routes will operate a normal Tuesday service. 

Additional bus services on 30 April

Bus routes 17 and 24 will be diverted part of the day.

Bus 17 will be diverted from the afternoon (3.43pm service from Karhupuisto and 3.29pm service from Munkkisaari) until the end of service. The bus will run via Korkeavuorenkatu, Mannerheimintie, Kaivokatu, Kaisaniemenkatu and Liisankatu. The bus will serve all stops along the diversion route.

Bus 24 to Seurasaari will be diverted due to street closures between Fredrikinkatu and Runeberginkatu 12noon-5pm. The bus will run via Pohjoinen Hesperiankatu and it will not serve Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu and Hietaniemi. The bus will serve all stops along the diversion route. In the direction of Merikatu the bus will run as usual.

Metro services

The metro will operate a Friday service but three hours longer than usual, running every 5 minutes between Tapiola and Itäkeskus and every 10 minutes between Itäkeskus/Vuosaari and Mellunmäki as well as between Tapiola and Matinkylä.

The last metro services:

M1 from Matinkylä to Vuosaari at 2.09am, from Kamppi to Vuosaari at about 2.27am and from Vuosaari to Matinkylä at 2.05am, from the Central Railway Station to Matinkylä at about 2.26am

M2 from Tapiola to Mellunmäki at 2.20am, from Kamppi to Mellunmäki at about 2.32am and from Mellunmäki to Tapiola at 2am.

The metro feeder bus service 84 from Herttoniemi Metro Station to Laajasalo will also run three hours longer than usual. Other metro feeder services will operate as usual.

Commuter train services

Commuter trains will operate a Friday service, with additional services. Commuter trains to Helsinki Airport (Ring Rail Line trains) will operate until about 2.30am.

The following additional commuter train services will operate on the night of 30 April:

L trains from Helsinki to Kirkkonummi at 1.38am, 2.38am and 5.04am and from Kirkkonummi to Helsinki at 2.37am and 3.37am. L trains to Helsinki will not stop at Ilmala on the night of 30 April from 11pm due to track works (L trains from Kirkkonummi 10.37pm-03.37am).

P trains from Helsinki at 1.48am, 2.18am, 3.18am and 3.48am.

I trains from Helsinki at 0.36am, 1.06am, 1.36am, 2.06am and 2.36am.

 

Tram services

Tram routes running via the Market Square will be diverted from about 4pm on 30 April due to May Eve celebrations around the statue of Havis Amanda.

Trams 2 and 3 will run along Bulevardi to the terminus of tram 6 in Hietalahti. Tram 2 will not serve the “Aleksanterinkatu”, “Senaatintori” (Senate Square), “Kauppatori” (Market Square), “Eteläranta” and “Olympiaterminaali” (Olympia Terminal) tram stops. Tram 3 will not operate the “Iso Roobertinkatu”, “Viiskulma”, “Eiran sairaala”, “Kapteeninkatu”, “Neitsytpolku”, “Kaivopuisto” and “Olympiaterminaali” stops.

The trams will be replaced by bus 3X, which will run between Eteläranta and Lasipalatsi along Tehtaankatu, Laivurinkatu, Fredrikinkatu, Bulevardi and Mannerheimintie. The bus will run every 10 minutes 4pm-7.30pm, every 12 minutes 7.30pm-11pm and every 20 minutes 11pm-1.25am.  

Aleksanterinkatu will be reserved for pedestrians from about 4pm.

Tram routes 4, 2, 3 and 5 will be diverted to run from Katajanokka via Kruununhaka and the Central Railway Station. The trams will not serve Aleksanterinkatu between the Senate Square and Ylioppilastalo.

Tram 7 will run via the Central Railway Station. It will not serve Aleksanterinkatu and Kruununhaka.

Tram diversions and replacement bus 3X on 30 April

May Day

A Sunday service will operate, with the exception of E trains, which will operate a Saturday service. Buses and trams will have additional services.

Bus 18V will operate to Kaivopuisto, running every 10-15 minutes between Eira, Kamppi and Meilahti 8.30am-8pm.

There will be additional services on Vihdintie bus routes 321 and 322 from 9.30am to 2pm. Additional services will operate on route 785K from Nikkilä to Helsinki at 8.50am and 10.50am.

Additional bus services on May Dayl

E trains (Helsinki-Kauklahti) will operate a Saturday service, running every 30 minutes from Helsinki 9.27am-9.27pm and from Kauklahti 9.05am-10.05pm..

Tram 5 will operate according to the passenger ferry operating hours.

On May Day, the following additional tram services will operate:

•Tram 2B Central Railway Station - Olympia Terminal 9am-8pm, approximately every 10-12 minutes.

•Tram 3B  Linjat – Hakaniemi – Central Railway Station – Eira – Kaivopuisto – Olympia Terminal 9am-8pm, approximately every 12 minutes.

  • Tram 2B from the Central Railway Station to Olympia Terminal and Kaivopuisto will depart from stop 0301 and tram 3B will depart from stop 0302.
  • The trams will change route numbers 2B <-> 3B at the Olympia Terminal stops.

•Tram 10B, Ooppera – Kirurgi, 9am-7pm, approximately every 12 minutes.

  • Central Railway Station 7.30am-5pm
  • Itäkeskus 10am-5.15pm
  • Pasila 8.30am-4pm
  • HSL Penalty Fares Office, 8.30am-2pm

On May Day, all service points will be closed.
