The new Tapiola bus terminal set to open on Monday 4 March will improve public transport services in Tapiola and South Espoo.
All buses running through or terminating in Tapiola will start using the new bus terminal located on Merituulentie. The Tapionaukio bus terminal will close when the new terminal is opened. The Pohjantie bus terminal will also close. However, buses running via Pohjantie will continue to serve the Pohjantie bus stops, with the exception of bay 40 (stop E2000), which will be closed.
The new bus terminal has an indoor waiting room and access to the bus bays is through sliding doors, just like at the Kamppi and Matinkylä bus terminals. In addition to improving interchange between the metro and buses, the new terminal will improve transport links from South Espoo to Leppävaara and Meilahti, for example.
The change will affect trunk route 550, bus routes 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 118, 118B, 124, 124 K, 125, 125 K, 548, 549 and 551, night bus routes 113N, 114N, 118N, 125N and 551N as well as neighborhood routes 116, 117 and 119.

Departure bays
The new bus terminal is divided into two parts, the northern and the southern part, separated by Merituulentie. Bays 1–7 are in the northern part. Most feeder buses serving southern Espoo depart from these bays. Bays 10 and 11 are located in the southern part. These bays are used, for example, by trunk bus 550 to Itäkeskus and bus 551 to Leppävaara.

How do I find the terminal? How do I move around the terminal?
The terminal is integrated with the Tapiola Metro Station and AINOA shopping center. Access to the terminal from the metro station, the shopping center and from the street level is signposted. Correspondingly, routes from the bus terminal to the metro station, shopping center and to the street level are signposted.
Access from the metro station to the northern part of the bus terminal:
In Tapiola, most feeder bus services will depart from the northern part of the bus terminal (bays 1-7). Access from the metro station to the northern part is via the west end of the platform (at the Matinkylä side of the station, exits A and B). There is an escalator going up to the ticket hall, from where you can take another escalator. There is also a lift to the platform area and ticket hall next to the bus terminal.
Access from the metro station to the southern part of the bus terminal:
Most Espoo feeder services will arrive in the southern part of the bus terminal (bays 10 and 11). In addition, trunk route 550 to Leppävaara and Itäkeskus as well as bus 551 to Otaniemi, Meilahti, Pasila and Herttoniemi will depart from the southern part of the terminal. The southern part of the bus terminal is accessed via the ticket hall at the east end of the metro station (the end in the direction of Helsinki city center). When coming to the ticket hall from the platform area, the escalator to the bus terminal is on your right hand side. There is a lift from the platform area to the eastern ticket hall and a lift from the ticket hall to the bus terminal next to the escalator.
Connection between the southern and northern parts of the terminal:
There is a temporary access route between the southern and northern parts of the terminal across Merituulentie. A permanent access to the terminal will be completed with the completion of the shopping center expansion in autumn 2019. To access the overpass from the northern part of the terminal, take the lift in front of the Stockmann department store in AINOA up one floor. To access the overpass from the southern part of the terminal, take the temporary stairs or a lift.

Changes to trunk route 550 and route 551
The trunk bus 550 will be rerouted between Kontiontie and Westendinasema to run via the Merituulentie bus termimal and Etelätuulentie. The bus will start serving the Tapiola Metro Station (bus terminal) and “Tuuliniitty” bus stops. The bus will no longer serve the “Kontiontie” bus stop.
Bus 550 will no longer serve the “Kontiontie”, “Sateentie”, “Tapiolansilta” bus stops.
The route of bus 551 will be extended from Tapiola to Westendinasema. The bus will no longer serve the temporary bus terminal at Tapionaukio, but like the trunk bus 550, it will run to the Merituulentie bus terminal and via Etelätuulentie. The bus will start serving the Tapiola Metro Station (bus terminal) and “Tuuliniitty” bus stops.
Bus 551 will no longer serve the “Tapionaukio” bus stop.
Changes to route 111
Bus 111 will be rerouted between Pohjantie and Westend to run via the Merituulentie bus terminal and Tapiolantie. The bus will serve the Tapiola Metro Station (bus terminal), “Sateentie” and “Tapiolansilta” bus stops. On Pohjantie, the bus will serve bay 42 instead of bay 40 in the direction of Hyljelahti.
Bus 111 will no longer serve the “Pohjantie” (bay 40), “Tuuliniitty”, “Westendinasema” bus stops.
Changes to route 113
Bus 113 will start running from the Tapiola bus terminal direct to Pohjantie and vice versa. The bus will no longer run to Tapionaukio via Etelätuulentie, Westendinasema and Tapiolantie. On Pohjantie, the bus will serve bay 42 instead of bay 40 in the direction of Tapiola.
Bus 113 will no longer serve the “Pohjantie” (bay 40), “Tuuliniitty”, “Westendinasema”, “Tapiolansilta”, “Sateentie”, “Tapionaukio” bus stops.
Changes to routes 548 and 549
Buses 548 and 549 will start running from the Tapiola bus terminal direct to Pohjantie and vice versa. The buses will no longer run to Tapionaukio via Etelätuulentie, Revontulentie and Tapiolantie. On Pohjantie, the buses will serve bay 44 instead of bay 40 in the direction of Tapiola.
Buses 548 and 549 will no longer serve the “Pohjantie” (bay 40), “Tuuliniitty”, “Sateentie”, “Tapionaukio” bus stops.
Changes to routes 112, 114, 115, 118, 118B, 124, 124K, 125 and 125K
Buses 112, 114, 115, 118, 118B, 124, 124K, 125 and 125K will start running from the Tapiola bus terminal on Merituulentie instead of Pohjantie.
The buses will no longer serve the “Pohjantie” bus stop.
Changes to night bus routes
Night buses 113N, 114N, 118N, 125N and 551N will start running via the Tapiola terminal. Night buses 113N, 114N, 118N and 125N will run from Länsiväylä to Pohjantie/Merituulentie via Tapiolantie. Bus 551N will no longer run to Tapionaukio; instead the bus will run via the Tapiola bus terminal to Westendinasema.
Buses 113N, 114N, 118N and 125N will no longer serve the “Westendinasema” and “Tuuliniitty” bus stops.
Bus 551N will no longer serve the “Tapionaukio” bus stop.
Changes to neighborhood routes
Tapiola neighborhood buses 116, 117 and 119 will run the Tapiola bus terminal.
Bus 116 will continue to run via Tuulikuja and Sateenkaarentie, but it will no longer serve Revontulentie.
Buses 117 and 119 will no longer serve Revontulentie nor the “Tuuliniitty” and “Sateentie” stops.
