QR-coded tickets to replace disposable cardboard cards

Following our system overhaul, the disposable cardboard cards that are available as single and day tickets at our sales and service points will be replaced by tickets with a QR code. If you have any such disposable cards that you have purchased at a sales or service point, you can continue using them until 31 December 2025. In connection with the overhaul, we have also introduced contactless payment as a new, simple payment method that enables you to purchase adult single tickets at card readers on public transport vehicles and at stations.

Disposable cards are cardboard tickets that are sold at sales and service points, and they are available as single and day tickets. Disposable cards are not the same as HSL cards, which you can top up with value and season tickets.

Disposable cardboard cards can be used until 31 December 2025

The sale of disposable cardboard cards will end at sales and service points when the ticketing overhaul is complete. However, you can continue using the cards as usual until 31 December 2025.

Corporate customers can continue to order disposable cards in the HSL Business Portal or via email.

We are currently overhauling our tickets and payment processes and upgrading our back-end systems. In connection with the overhaul, we have also introduced contactless payment as a new payment method that enables you to purchase adult single tickets at card readers on all HSL public transport vehicles and at stations.

In addition, in the future, single and day tickets purchased at sales and service points will have a QR code that you need to show to the card reader at the beginning of your first journey. You can buy these new single and day tickets at sales and service points once the ticketing overhaul is complete. We will inform you of the exact date as soon as possible.
